A field experiment was conducted on fixed site during two consecutive kharif seasons of 2008 and 2009 in vertisols of Regional Agricultural Research Station, Nandyal, Andra Pradesh. The treatments consisted of three soil techniques viz., opening furrows in alternate rows at last intercultivation, intercropping of soybean in cotton and application of straw between inter rows of cotton as mulch as main plots and six nutrient management practices of recommended dose of fertilisers @ 150:75:75 kg NPK ha^-1, 187:57:57 kg NPK ha^-1 based on soil test by the combined application of nutrients through inorganic and organic sources @ 75% N through fertiliser+25% N through FYM, 75% N through fertiliser+25% N through vermicompost, 50% N through fertiliser+50% N through FYM, 50% N through fertiliser+50% N through vermicompost and 187-57-57 kg NPK ha^-1 based on soil test+micronutrient sprays of zinc …
