MATERIALS AND METHODS

An English language literature search was performed from January 1, 1980, to October 15, 2020, using four bibliographic databases and one Department of Defense database (PubMed (MEDLINE), Embase, Ovid Medline, all EBM reviews [including the Cochrane database], and the Defense Technical Information Center) using the primary terms:“military-civilian” or “civilian-military” partnership or collaboration. The secondary focus incorporated the following terms: training, predeployment training, skills sustainment, trauma readiness, and surgical training. A citation review of key studies and review articles was also performed to identify additional eligible studies. The database results were then uploaded to the Covidence online platform (https://www. covidence. org), and a three-tiered review (title, abstract, full text) was performed (JJL, MDT, AGM).
