The epidemiology of colorectal cancer (CRCa), the second leading cause of cancer death globally, varies significantly between different age, gender and racial groups. Our aim was to identify trends in demographic-specific disparities in inpatient CRCa outcomes. This is a retrospective longitudinal trends study using the Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS) database (2010–2019). We identified hospitalizations with CRCa using ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes and obtained the prevalence rate per 100,000 adult hospitalizations each year. Trends were assessed using the annual percentage change (APC) by Joinpoint regression. We highlight disparities in mortality outcomes stratified by sex and race.
