Method: Thirty organisations across Australia from the sport, health and education sectors were recruited to use the Standard to design new or modify existing programs aimed at increasing participants’ physical literacy. Twelve existing programs were ‘mapped’against the four domains and 32 elements of the Standard to explore how the program's design delivered on each element and how this was communicated to the deliverer and/or delivered to the participant. The program maps were used to inform the modification of existing programs and the development of new programs.
Results: The Standard has four domains (physical, psychological, social and cognitive) and the mapping exercise revealed gaps in the existing program's design.
