Abstract Brief Background: Most maxillofacial injuries are caused by a road trauma accident, on-the-job (factory) accident, act of violence, an accident at home or a sports mishap. While not all facial injuries are extensive, they are all complex since they affect an area of the body that is critical to breathing, eating, speaking, seeing and appearance. The paper presents a case of facial injury and its management. Materials and Methods: A successful prosthodontic rehabilitation of a patient with a close range maxillary gunshot injury uses staged reconstruction and a multidisciplinary team approach. Discussion: Management of gunshot wounds to the head and neck is a challenge for the dentist as he is often confronted with a combination of problems that affect the prognosis.
