Four biofertilizers (control; Rhizobium sp.; vesicular arbuscular mycorrhiza, VAM; VAM + Rhizobium sp.) and four phosphorus levels (0, 20, 40 and 60 kg/ha) were evaluated in relation to their effect on the growth and yield of green gram cv. K-851 in an experiment conducted in the summer season of 1999, in Uttaranchal, India. Biofertilizers along with increase in phosphorus levels upto 60 kg P₂O₅ ha^-1 had a significant effect on the yield of green gram, attributed to cumulative effect of growth attributes viz., plant height, number of branches per plant, number of trifoliate leaves, leaf area index, dry matter accumulation per plant, crop growth rate, relative growth rate and net assimilation rate and yield attributes viz., pods per plant, pod length, seeds per pod, 1000-seed weight and seed yield per plant.
