We read with interest the Article by Louisa Degenhardt and colleagues. 1 The authors thoroughly report a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised and observational studies comparing buprenorphine versus methadone for the treatment of opioid use disorder across a range of prespecified primary and secondary outcomes. Although not one of the main findings of the review but a limitation of the available primary studies evaluating opioid agonist treatment (OAT), the authors insightfully point out that “the limited data on outcomes such as treatment satisfaction and quality of life demonstrate a need for patientcentred non-consumption outcomes to be included in future studies to investigate the real-world effectiveness of OAT.” 1
