Methods: Male Wistar rats (250–270 g, n= 6) were submitted to 3 h of pilocarpine-induced status epilepticus (SE) with the drug intracerebroventricularly-administered (2.4 mg/μL; icv). Rats were injected with sodium thiopental (30 mg/kg; ip) for SE interruption and randomly divided into groups according to treatment: saline solution (SE+ SAL) or three different doses of Pwx10 (0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 μg/μL). All treatments (icv) were carried out throughout four consecutive days, starting at 1 h after thiopental injection. Hippocampal histopathological damage was evaluated with Nissl and Fluoro-Jade C (FJC) staining, and spatial learning and memory were tested in the Morris water maze (MWM). Additionally, the frequency, duration, severity, and mean latencies to SRSs were analyzed by video monitoring over 60 days.
