简介
Background
Statins are the cornerstone of lipid management in patients with Type-2 DM. Despite their efficacy, many diabetic patients do not achieve LDL-C goals. Diabetes is a well-recognized risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and hence, aggressive therapeutic approach is needed in some high-risk patients. Emerging evidence suggests that Ezetimibe as an adjunct to statins provides additional cardioprotective effects.
Methods
Electronic databases (Medline, Scopus, Embase, Cochrane) were searched until 25th November 2020. Using dichotomous and continuous data for select values, the mean differences were calculated applying Mantel Haenszel (MH) random-effects.
Results
Combination therapy of ezetimibe and statin was correlated with a greater mean percentage change of LDL-C from baseline (WMD:-17.9, 95% CI-19.85 to-14.54; p= 0.78). A statistically significant difference (WMD:-20.36, 95% CI-25 …
