Atrial functional mitral regurgitation (aFMR) has become a novel topic of interest. Data on the safety and efficacy of transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) of mitral valve among patients with aFMR and ventricular functional mitral regurgitation (vFMR) is scarce and limited to single center studies.

We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the safety and efficacy of TEER in the management of aFMR vs vFMR and its impact on clinical outcomes.

PubMed/MEDLINE, Cochrane Library and EMBASE databases were queried to identify studies comparing the efficacy of TEER between aFMR and vFMR.
