Methods: Macrovascular invasion (MVI) was assessed by Triple phase computed tomography. The predictors of MVI were identified on univariate logistic regression analysis, the variables with p< 0.05 were subjected to multivariate logistic regression analysis to determine the independent predictors of MVI in HCC.

Results: Among 368 patients with HCC, MVI was seen in 35.9%, it involved the major branches of the Main Portal Vein (MPV) in 43.9%, MPV alone in 17.4%, MPV plus one or more of its major branch in 16.7%. Extensive MVI involving MPV and its branches with extension to superior mesenteric vein (SMV) and/or splenic vein was seen in 11.4%. Involvements of hepatic vein (s) with thrombosis at≥ 1 vein (s) of the spleno-portal axis were seen in 9%.
