In October of 2019, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that the rates of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) nationally have increased for 5 consecutive years and reached an all-time high in 2018. The CDC’s recommendation has been that providers should make STI screening and treatment “a standard part of medical care, especially for adolescents, pregnant women and men who have sex with men (MSM).” 1 Significant barriers to the provision of high-quality sexual health services as part of routine medical care often exist, including timely low-threshold access, lack of provider competency, and patient comfort. 2, 3 In 2015, with the goal of providing barrier-free comprehensive sexual health services, the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital’s (NYP) HIV Prevention Program (NYP-HPP) was established.
