Rationale In Australia, family medicine (general practice) is often the first point of contact for patients with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) however, there are challenges to the timely, targeted detection and effective management of OSA within primary care. At present there is little understanding about the current practices, experiences and preferences for managing OSA amongst general practitioners (GPs). This project aimed to address this gap by providing an indepth analysis of the current ‘state of play’, to identify both the level of interest by GPs to be more involved in OSA management and any opportunities for improving assessment and management by GPs. Methods A descriptive, pragmatic qualitative study.
