简介
Transorbital occlusion of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) has been used to provoke focal cerebral ischemia in monkeys (Hartmann et al. 1981; Del Zoppo et al. 1986; Symon et al. 1979), cats (Shigeno et al. 1985, Rosner et al. 1986) and other animals (Fein and Molinari 1976). This approach was first described by Hudgins and Garcia 1970 for rhesus monkeys and by O’Brien and Waltz 1973 for cats and superceded the retroorbital approach as described by Sundt and Waltz 1966. The transorbital approach with either clipping or ligation of the MCA has been used in our laboratory for several years and has been proven to produce cerebral ischemia and cerebral infarction (Hartmann et al. 1982, Barbosa-Coutinho et al. 1985).
