The use of microarrays for cancer diagnosis implies the complex task of analyzing tens of thousands of genomic expression data. The need for reliable, interpretable and transferable knowledge from microarray experiments in cancer research is a key motivation to develop analysis strategies aiming for simplicity and effectiveness. In this work a microarray analysis strategy based on the Mann-Whitney test (MW) is presented. The results of the application of the proposed strategy (PS) to analyze cervix cancer and pancreatic cancer microarray data are presented and discussed to support the strategys potential as a cancer diagnostic tool.
