The inhibitive effect of Cucumeropsis mannii shell extract (CMHE) on mild steel corrosion in 1.0 M NaCl solution has been investigated by weight loss measurement using Box-Behnken Design for experimental design. The effects of temperature (30oC-60oC), immersion time (1-5 h) and inhibitor concentration (2 g L-1-10 g L-1) were examined for mild steel in NaCl solution in the presence and absence of CMHE. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) techniques were used to examine mild steel surface in the absence and presence of CMHE. Corrosion rate was observed to increase as temperature and immersion time increased but decreased as CMHE concentration was increased.
