Abstract The article discusses Rhode Island's Recovery Navigation Program (RNP) to provide a solution to alcohol addiction treatment, and involving state politics, city policy, fire departments, hospitals and Medicaid. It discusses RNP's conception which began in 2012, its funding issues, and later the services predominantly billed by Medicaid, RNP's opening on December 1, 2016, the obstacles to the program such as availability of beds, funding, medical clearance, etc., and its closure on July 1, 2018.
