This chapter aims to portray the history of KAATSU training and introduce Blood Flow Restriction Training (BFRT). KAATSU training and BFRT are thought to be same, but there is a minute difference, which is clarified in the chapter. People who were fit, athletic, and recovering from injury started using BFRT for a variety of purposes, including weight loss, muscle tone development, and hypertrophy. At present, BFRT is the best alternative for participants who want to undergo strength training but cannot perform the typical resistance or weight training due to any reason. The proliferation of satellite cells, which are responsible for regeneration and growth, inside the connective tissue may help to explain some of the supraphysiological advantages of exercise with BFRT. BFRT mainly focuses on the hypertrophy of the muscle by improving the peripheral arterial inflow.
