简介
Objective
The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and coronary heart disease, as well as assess the heightened cardiovascular (CV) mortality associated with RA. This article provides a comprehensive exploration of the mechanisms linked to the accelerated progression of atherogenesis in individuals diagnosed with RA.
Methods
This study conducted a retrospective analysis of existing literature with the main objective of investigating potential mechanisms that contribute to the accelerated development of atherosclerosis in individuals diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Additionally, the research explored the effectiveness of carotid ultrasonography as a diagnostic tool for evaluating atherosclerosis. Furthermore, the study assessed the potential benefits of therapeutic interventions in alleviating the hastened progression of atherosclerosis in individuals with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
Findings
Endothelial dysfunction, identified as a precursor to atherosclerosis, has been observed in patients diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Prolonged chronic inflammation in individuals with RA can lead to various un favourable outcomes, including endothelial dysfunction, insulin resistance, and dyslipidemia. The development of atherosclerosis in individuals with RA involves processes that go beyond conventional risk factors associated with arterial plaque formation. These mechanisms encompass hyper homocy steinemia and increased oxidative stress. Methotrexate (MTX) therapy has been linked to a reduction in cardiovascular (CV) mortality among individuals with RA. Ongoing research explores …
