Mosquitoes of the Culex pipiens Linnaeus, 1758 (Diptera: Culicidae) complex have a worldwide distribution and are involved in the transmission of viruses that cause encephalitis to humans and animals, but also parasites. Among the members of this group, Cx. quinquefasciatus Say, 1823, vector of St. Louis equina encephalitis virus and Japanese encephalitis virus, among others, inhabits tropical and subtropical regions. The objective of the work was to identify the preferential breeding sites of this species within the domestic environment in Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic. The study was conducted from October to December 2017; 100 households were randomly surveyed checking all the containers with a potential to host mosquito larvae and/or pupae both inside and outside the house.
