Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is among the most heritable psychiatric disorders. Given that around 65% of children diagnosed in childhood continue to suffer from ADHD during adulthood, we aim to identify the genetic influence on the stability of ADHD symptoms that may contribute to discern between ADHD subjects with and without symptomatic persistence using the genomic data from the International Multi-centre persistent ADHD CollaboraTion (IMpACT). In an attempt to unravel novel genes underlying persistent ADHD, we conducted a meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for adult ADHD in a total sample of 5,981 cases and 15,180 controls from IMpACT. None of the findings exceeded the genome-wide threshold for significance (P<5e-08).
