Hydroxyquinoline (HQ) is alkylated with the suitable di-substituted butane, such as 1-Bromo-4 Chlorobutane (BCB), to produce a Chloro and Bromobutoxyquinoline (key intermediate of Aripiprazole). A conventional heating approach takes around two-and-a-half hours to complete the intermediate stage and creates a sizable quantity of dimer (2.37–4%). In the present work, the setbacks of the traditional method were settled down by the Microwave Irradiation (MWI) technique. In this connection, the relevant process factors were screened by fractional factorial design, and sorted ones are optimized using response surface methodology for process yield (Ɛ) and dimer (ȡ) profiles. The efficacy of the optimum condition of efficient process parameters, namely BCB mole ratio (A:3.4), base mole ratio (B:1.22), and MWI period (C:45 min.), was then validated and compared to the traditional response.
