Globally, healthcare services are being offered virtually with the combination of internet technologies called a telehealth system. Telehealth system focuses on delivering healthcare services to patients without physical interaction. This chapter gives the background and basic features of a telehealth system that facilitates communication between medical experts and recipients of healthcare services; exposing telecommunication protocols involved in the transmission of data in the system. It enumerates the benefits of telehealth system as well as the challenges of a telehealth system. Also, the chapter explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in telehealth system, the fundamental AI models adopted in telehealth systems, the blocks that make up the blockchain, the efficacy of blockchain technology, and its pitfalls. Finally, the chapter highlights the geographical statistics of countries that are effectively adopting AI and blockchain technology in telehealth systems.
