Limited drug transport through the blood brain barrier (BBB) is the main problem in the therapy of brain disorders [1, 2]. The nose-to-brain route offers the possibility of direct transport of drugs to the brain from the nasal cavity, although there are some obstacles to drug absorption, such as the enzymatic activity and the mucociliary system [3, 4]. The drug encapsulation in nanoparticles appears as a great opportunity to circumvent these obstacles. The lipid nanoparticles stand out due to their high biocompatibility and drug loading efficiency [5]. Several factors related to composition and production process contribute to the successful development of lipid nanoparticles formulations for nose-to-brain drug delivery [6].
