Background: Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy (TC) is an increasingly recognized reversible cause of non-ischemic cardiomyopathy that is often described in terms of the pattern of left ventricular (LV) dysfunction. Right ventricular (RV) function in TC is poorly delineated. We sought to compare RV function across different variants of TC and to assess for short-term prognostic implications of RV dysfunction in this disorder.

Methods: Adult subjects diagnosed with TC at 2 academic referral centers were included in the study. RV function was assessed via measurement of the tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE).
