Background: Advances in wireless technology have led to the increasing use of mobile health platforms. This approach, tele-medicine, enables healthcare providers to communicate remotely with patients, thereby enhancing timeliness and quality of care, and patient engagement. However, few studies address barriers to its implementation, especially in medically under served populations. Methods: A cross-sectional survey of 151 cancer patients was conducted at an academic medical center in North Philadelphia, PA. A trained interviewer performed structured interviews regarding the barriers and facilitators of patients’ current and desired utilization of technology for healthcare services.
