简介
Species of the genus Pyrus (pear) are among the world’s most commercially-important fruits. Genetic diversity of Pyrus cultivars grown in Australia, a market dominated by relatively few varieties, is largely unknown. A total of 95 individual accessions (comprising 9 Pyrus species and 11 interspecific hybrids) were genotyped with 13 selected SSR markers to describe genetic variation and relationships between accessions. Statistical analysis supported separation of P. communis samples in a distinct cluster from P. pyrifolia, P. bretschneideri and 5 other Asian species (P. calleryana, P. salicifiolia, P. pashia, P. complexa, P. fauriei). Substantial diversity between species and cultivars was apparent, while affinities generally conformed to geographic provenance of accessions or their parents. This study has also confirmed the suitability of SSR polymorphisms for genetic diversity analyses and the effectiveness of genetic …
