3. Discussion

Both our patients had micro-prolactinomas, for which they were prescribed cabergoline, and subsequently, developed psychotic and mood symptoms, which were poorly responsive to psychopharmacological treatment. Improvement occurred on stopping cabergoline. This temporal correlation suggests an association of psychotic and mood symptoms with cabergoline use. Moreover, the absence of past psychiatric history and lack of significant family history of psychiatric disorders are pointers against primary psychiatric diagnoses.
