Background
Metabolic diseases exist on a spectrum, with severe phenotypes having stronger associations with adverse cardiovascular outcomes. This study forecasts the number of individuals with different severities of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), high body mass index (BMI), and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) or advanced fibrosis in the US
Methods
Metabolic disease projections from 2025 to 2040 based on the severities of T2DM (controlled and uncontrolled), high BMI (overweight and obesity), and NAFLD and advanced fibrosis, stratified by sex, were estimated using regression models based on the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, alongside US Census Bureau projection counts on adults aged≥ 18 years.
Results
