Background: Since the EWGSOP consensus was established, researchers were easier to create a'global map'of sarcopenia, which revealed prevalence ranging from 5 to 33% in the various regions. Sarcopenia appears to be an age-related phenomenon, exacerbated, by a sedentary lifestyle, nutritional factors, and chronic disease. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship of sarcopenia and multiple factors in elderly. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of 138 subjects aged > 60 years who were recruited from four nursing homes in West Jakarta. Sarcopenia was measured by means of the bioelectrical impedance. The procedures for the measurement of blood pressure were adapted from JNC 7. All subjects underwent a standardized structural clinical evaluation along with routine blood tests.
