Background

The efficacy of Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) in managing Type II Myocardial Infarction (T2MI) remains a subject of ongoing debate. This study aims to evaluate the impact of PCI in patients with T2MI, evaluating inpatient outcomes.

Methods

We used the National Inpatient Sample database (2018-2020). Patients diagnosed with T2MI were sampled using ICD-10 codes. Propensity score matching was performed between patients who underwent PCI and those who did not for the age and Elixhauser comorbidity index covariates. The Standardized Mean Difference was less than 0.01 after matching. Survival analysis was performed. Mann-Whitney U and Chi-square tests were performed for numeric and categorical variables, respectively. Weighted samples were used. P-values≤ 0.05 were considered statistically significant.
