Heart failure is a serious chronic syndrome that is accompanied by significant physical and psychological burdens, resulting in poor quality of life.

To assess the quality of life of patients with severe heart failure and its correlation with patient demographic, socio‐economic and clinical characteristics.

We studied 199 patients with heart failure who were hospitalized in the Cardiology Department of three general hospitals of Greece during a 1‐year period. Demographic and socio‐economic data were obtained using a short questionnaire, while clinical data were obtained from medical record review. The assessment of the patients' quality of life was performed using Minnesota Life with Heart Failure Questionnaire (MLWHFQ).
