简介
Certainly oxidative injuries originated by a number of diseases can be prohibited by antioxidants, especially from natural sources, but if these natural foundations are absolutely safe to exercise for mankind is an issue? In current study Ricinus communis, a well acknowledged medicinal plant was appraised for its cytotoxic and mutagenic consequences, using hemolytic and the Ames fluctuation methods using mutants strains of Salmonella typhi, respectively. Antioxidant level for crude and protein/peptide extracts from R. communis was also studied under normal and stressed conditions. The study resulted in non-mutagenic and negligible cytotoxic plant extracts. The bioactive protein/peptide extracts were found more free radical scavengers than the crude extracts of seeds and seedlings in phosphate buffer. This suggests secure use of R. communis crude and bioactive protein/peptide extracts.
