Three pesticides viz., aldicarb, endosulfan and Captan, and nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers were applied singly and in different combinations to study their relative contributions towards increasing the grain yield of greengram. Aldicarb alone and in combination with fertilizers increased the plant height, the chlorophyll content of leaves, number of pods and the grain yield. The economics of the various treatments on poor and medium fertility soils have been compared. Aldicarb + N + 1/2 P gave maximum net profit, and a cost-benefit ratio of 1:2.
