This paper studies the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) and its strategies in critical perception, concentrating about the inclusion of its technological and organizational enforcements for the prevailing city to be smart. The academic attention toward the IoT in the smart cities and its applications is growing very fast, yet the discontinuity in the employment approaches makes for a confounding open deliberation. A considerable amount of literature expose that the studies differentiate in their assurance about incremental or transformational perspective regarding transmutation in smart urban communities. Henceforward, the IoT grants better consequences or further open prospects as the authenticity assert for the smart cities fulfillment. Since every individual city has different setting with novel and unique context, these settings will shape the technological, organizational, and environmental aspects of that particular city. Therefore, the smart city can be influenced by the contextual interplay via IoT strategies with the technological innovation, organizational innovation, and environmental innovation of policy aspects. However, to date there has been a big agreement on the IoT in smart cities innovation as technological investigation through abundant researches. Nonetheless, debate continues about the best strategies of the IoT in organizational and environmental policy for smart cities.
