简介
Several hypotheses concerning the longitudinal relationship between change in the Kansas City economy and surveyed mood and life events are tested. Results indicate that much of the variation in mood and life events can be accounted for by prior (one to three months) change in economic conditions. While unemployment is found to be significantly related to both mood and stressful life events, inflation is related to neither. Combinations of metropolitan and regional unemployment provide significantly better predictions of community mood and life change than either alone.
