Improving the dyeability of poly (lactic acid), PLA, and poly (ethylene terephthalate), PET, knitted fabrics with disperse dyes were investigated in this paper. The possibility of achieving deep dyeing of the PLA and PET fabrics using UV/Ozone irradiation after pre-treatment with distilled water, hydrogen peroxide, and hydrogen peroxide/sodium silicate solutions were scrutinized. The comprison of the results with the result obtained from the untreated samples indicated that the colour depth of the PLA and PET fabrics using UV/Ozone treatment with and without pre-treatment increased significantly. Amoung the different pretreatments used, the H2O2/Na2SiO3 solution showed better performance.
