Manilkara zapota is an evergreen tree with various species, and it is cultivated for its delicious fruit. Different parts of the tree have been used for various ailments such as diarrhoea, dysentery and fever in traditional medical practice. Various phytochemical components have been isolated from different parts of this plant. Thus, a brief overview on Manilkara zapota's phytochemical and pharmacological constituents is presented in this work. Polyphenolics are the major group of compounds isolated from this plant. Furthermore, this review covered the wide application of various parts of the plant, such as leaves, fruit and seed. In addition, bioactivities such as antioxidant, antimicrobial, antidiabetic, hypocholesterolemic, antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory, antidiarrheal, anthelmintic, antitumor, antiarthritis, xanthine oxidase inhibitory activity and feeding deterrent activity of the plant have been presented in this work.
