The in vitro anti-microbial activity of Calendula officinalis flower extracts has been investigated against S. aureus, S. aureus coagulase positive, B. subtilis, B. cereus, B. stearothermophillus, E. coli, V. cholerae, S. typhi, P. aeruginosa and K. pneumoniae. The petroleum ether (60-80) and chloroform extracts of Calendula officinalis showed high activity against nearly all test micro-organisms. The inhibitory effects of extracts are very close and identical in magnitude and are comparable with the standard antibiotics used.
