This chapter will consider key literature and theoretical perspectives relating to end-oflife care, palliative care and hospice care, with a particular focus on the relevance of speech-language pathology. It will consider the specialist role of speech-language pathologists and the important aspects of communication and swallowing in relation to palliative care.
