Early and long-term outcomes of minimally invasive mitral valve surgery through right minithoracotomy: a 10-year experience in 1604 patients

M Glauber, A Miceli, D Canarutto, A Lio, M Murzi… - Journal of …, 2015 - Springer
Background To report early and long-term outcomes of patients undergoing minimally
invasive mitral valve surgery (MIMVS) through right mini-thoracotomy (RT) over a 10-year
period. Methods From September 2003 to December 2013, a total of 1604 consecutive
patients underwent MIMVS through RT. Results The mean age was 63±13 years, 770 (48%)
patients were female and 218 (13.6%) had previous cardiac operations. The most
predominant pathology was degenerative disease (70%), followed by functional mitral valve …

Early and long-term results of minimally invasive mitral valve surgery through a right mini-thoracotomy approach: a retrospective propensity-score matched analysis

S Mkalaluh, M Szczechowicz, B Dib, A Sabashnikov… - PeerJ, 2018 - peerj.com
Background Minimally invasive mitral valve surgery (MVS) via right mini-thoracotomy has
recently attracted a lot of attention. Minimally invasive MVS shows postoperative results that
are comparable to those of conventional MVS through the median sternotomy as per various
earlier studies. Methods Between 2000 and 2016, a total of 669 isolated mitral valve
procedures for isolated mitral valve regurgitation were performed. A propensity score-
matched analysis was generated for the elimination of the differences in relevant …
