This chapter discusses important immunopathogenetic mechanisms to tuberculosis infection
in humans, describing relevant clinical pathologies, immunity and immune responses,
immune effector cells, and immunogenetics. Their overall impact on relevant TB co-
morbidities, such as HIV, helminth infections, and diabetes, are also discussed. Current
challenges in TB vaccine development are explored.
