Dendrimer-based nanocomposites for alcohol fuel cells

In this chapter, the catalytic effects and properties of dendrimer and dendritic
macromolecules in alcohol fuel cells are discussed. Dendrimers are highly branched
macromolecules that contain spaces. Thanks to this hollow structure of dendrimers,
nanocomposite materials are encapsulated, making electrocatalytic activity more efficient in
direct alcohol fuel cells (DAFCs). The toxic reaction caused by platinum damages the
