Abstract
The aim of this project was to understand why millennials experience workplace burnout at a higher proportion than other generations and to provide strategies and best practices necessary to decrease this phenomenon from existing in the workplace. A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted to expand the current body of literature that exists, providing insight into the millennial workplace burnout phenomenon. This project indicates that job satisfaction or lack thereof is the leading factor for millennial retention intention. Top recommendations such as providing employees with quality mentors, improving and establishing consistency in communication between management and employees, and the provisions of meaningful recognition were presented as best practices to implement for the improvement of millennial motivation, job satisfaction, and employee turnover rates.
