Improvements in superconductor device fabrication, detector hybridization techniques, and
superconducting quantum interference device readout have made square-centimeter-sized
arrays of gamma-ray microcalorimeters, based on transition-edge sensors (TESs), possible.
At these collecting areas, gamma microcalorimeters can utilize their unprecedented energy
