Of the halogenated 8-quinolinols, 5-chloro-7-iodo (Illa) and 5, 7-diiodo-8-quinolinols (Via),
commonly known as Vioform and Diodoquin re-spectively, have proved very useful in
thetreat-ment of intestinal amoebiasis. Among the recently prepared amoebicidal
