In India, around 100 million tonnes of hydrogen is produced annually. The majority of it comes from steam methane reforming and coal. Although both require a lot of energy to generate, they are very clean and sustainable methods. In the rapidly approaching twenty-first century, hydrogen and electricity derived from renewable technologies will undoubtedly serve as clean, inexhaustible energy carriers. In the current scenario, the urgency of reducing greenhouse gas emissions has increased, prompting many countries to take steps to decarbonize their economies. The widespread use of hydrogen would greatly reduce air pollution and improve energy security. It is estimated that India’s energy demand will grow at a faster pace than that of any other country. As a result, it is the time to concentrate on alternative and effective methods of meeting the expanding need. The focus of this article is on Green Hydrogen, Hydrogen Economy, Climate Change, and Hydrogen’s Potential in India.
