This chapter evaluates the potential of anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) as a
technology platform for recovering clean water, energy, and nutrients from wastewater.
AnMBR has a promising potential for removing a wide array of trace organic contaminants
(TrOCs) of concern to water reuse, converting organic carbons in wastewater to biogas, and
solubilizing nutrients (eg, ammonia and phosphorus) for subsequent recovery for fertilizer
