Approximate factorization of matrix polynomials with applications to the synthesis problems

We consider a problem of approximate factorization of regular and irregular matrix
polynomials. A theorem is proved on the minimum value of the functional. A method and
numerical algorithm is offered to solving the considered problem using symbolic calculations
that provides high accuracy of the obtained solution. Results of the numerical experiments
and comparison with known results are given.
