Asmic addresses the long-standing challenge of alkylating isocyanides, providing access to
isocyanides with diverse substitution patterns. The o-anisylsulfanyl group serves a critical
dual role by facilitating deprotonation–alkylation and providing a latent nucleophilic site
through an unusual arylsulfanyl–lithium exchange.
